Other Services We provide translation from English to Thai and Thai to English for the following types of documents:
For general text, translation fees start from $0.25 per word. For technical text, translation fees start from $0.35 per word. Minimum charge per assignment is $100 excluding GST. Full payment is required in advance where the project value is below $1000. 50% deposit is required where the project value is above $1000. Expert Thai can normally deliver completed translation in 2-3 days if the source document is no longer than 5 pages (subject to our workload at the time of receipt of full / deposit payment). To obtain a quotation, please email your document to expertthai@outlook.com. Editing Editing involves checking the content of the translation against the source document to find discrepancies. It is a discourse based approach which considers whether the translation is suitable for the audience, the context (time, mode of publishing etc.), the author’s style and tone of writing, the text type, and the objective of the translation Our editing service includes: cross-checking terminology with dictionaries, correcting inconsistent terminology, correcting typographical errors and grammatical errors, rephrasing confusing statements, adding omitted translation, correcting misinterpretation, checking for correct meaning and checking adherence to glossaries (when available). Editing may be performed with reference to the client’s style guide. Our rate for editing is $0.15 per word. The minimum charge per assignment is $100 excluding GST. Proofreading Proofreading involves the checking of surface errors in a translation without referring to the source document. It aims to detect errors in spelling, punctuation and format. It should not require major rewriting. Examples of discrepancies detected during proofreading are: incorrect font size, incorrect line spacing, incorrect word breaks, missing headings or titles in a table, misaligned columns or rows in a table, misaligned margins, footnotes or endnotes not matching references, missing numbers, incorrect dates, inconsistent use of abbreviations. Our rate per hour for proofreading is $50 excluding GST. The minimum charge per assignment is $100 excluding GST. Should we find that the translation needs major amendment, the assignment will be reclassified as editing and the ‘per word’ rate will apply. Translation Quality Assessment We offer this service to any organization that judges a translation to be unsatisfactory or inaccurate. Our translation quality assessment offers an independent opinion of a short translation sample of 250-300 words. A brief report will include comments and some examples to support the assessor’s analysis. The assessment follows NAATI Certified Translator Test Assessment Rubrics. The report will state whether (a) the translation is satisfactory and of a high standard; (b) whether the translation is generally satisfactory, but contains some minor discrepancies; or (c) the translation is of an unsatisfactory standard because it contains major discrepancies. The fee for this service is $50 excluding GST.
